Johnny Bench gets his 2,000th hit

Phillies 9, Reds 4 in Cincinnati

May 4, 1983: Johnny Bench got his 2,000th career hit with a single to LF in T7 off Steve Carlton. He ended his career with 2,048 hits. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1989.
