George Foster’s 50th Home Run in 1977

Sept. 23, 1977: George Foster hit his 50th home run (deep LF) of the season in T9 off Buzz Capra. He was the first player to hit 50 home runs in a season since Willie Mays hit 52 home runs in 1965. He ended the season with 52 home runs. He was later named NL MVP.
